The "New" Reredos
The 'new' St. Theodore reredos was moved from its previous home in St. James the Great, Cardiff to St. Theodore's Church where it was unveiled on St. Theodore's Day, 19th September 2007. Little is known about the provinence of the reredos apart from a pencil inscription on the back which suggests it originated in London and was installed in St. James the Great in 1921.
The ornate detailing of the reredos can be seen by visiting St. Theodore's church and seeing it for yourself - but we have put together a small gallery to give you an idea of the work and craftsmanship that must have gone into creating it.
The central focal point of the reredos is Christ the King - either side featuring ten Welsh saints. The bottom section features three iconic images of Christ.
