The redevelopment of the Parish Hall, 2008
Following the success of the project to build the Youth Hall the Parochial Church Council in 2006 committed itself to the redevelopment of the Parish Hall (formerly known as the Mission Room as this was built by Miss Emily Talbot prior to St. Theodore's Church). This hall is used extensively by the parish and other community groups but was itself in need of thorough repair and renewal.
The PCC was again skillfully aided and advised by our Parish Architect, Mr. Gordon Clarke and various plans were considered before accepting one that would see a comprehensive interior reshaping of the front of the Parish Hall with the continued benefit of one large hall, a smaller meeting room, a catering kitchen, toilets all permiting disability access, plus a parish office. The main entrance to the Parish Hall boasts wide, light and airy glass doors opening into a Parish Coffee Shop and Licensed Bar with seating and the Parish Shop.
Making this dream plan come to its reality required over £445,000.00 and again involved the Parish in much fund raising and giving. The award of a Big Lottery grant secured the project along with other grants and gifts awarded. Work commenced in May 2008 by SJB Construction and was completed November 2008 with the Rt. Rev'd. Dr. Barry C. Morgan, Archbishop of Wales formally re-opening the Parish Hall in December 2008.
